Madras Institute of Fashion Technology (MFT) is an educational Institute which was established in the year 2000 in chennai and registered under the Government of Tamil Nadu. The institute has established tie-ups with number of Universities, Research institutions and Garment industries. The Courses offered by this Institute are recognized by University of Madras, Alagappa University-Karaikudi, TamilNadu Open University - Chennai, Bharathiar University- Coimbatore, Manonmaniam Sundaranar Univeristy - Tirunelveli, etc. The Institute is offering Diploma, Under Graduate and Post Graduate Fashion Courses in full time, part–time basis and Distance Mode.

Madras Institute of Fashion Technology, a premier academic institute of design, management and technology, aims at enhancing the technical skills of the professionals that go into the hand in hand with the developing world. The institute provides all embracing and most upon -date infrastructure and equipment to provide opportunities to develop refine and showcase the students work. The classrooms are equipped with an excellent facility, infrastructure and flexible-seating arrangement with audio-visual equipment like LCD, DVD, OHP, etc. MFT has the state of training facility with fully functional network of computers with multiple operating environments with internet connections. And the students can also get training in full-fledged testing laboratory with latest instruments and modern equipments to meet international standards.

The institute has a team of committed and enthusiastic faculty members to attract the best budding talents. Our full time highly qualified resource persons and a healthy exchange of faculty and professional in industries are being arranged to utilize the expertise in respective fields to bring out the best in every student.

• Information Technology department
MFT has excellent facilities to support information Technology department. IT department has the latest software and hardware in laboratory for hands on training which has been interwoven into the study program to provide practical training for helping the students to attain a high degree of proficiency in order to meet the demand and IT industry. The Lab is fully equipped with the most modern structure cabling using AT&T CAT-5 cables, synoptic 10 Base T Hubs and computers with the highest configuration. Students will use the latest CAD system such as Rich peace , Gerber software for 3D .MFT also proud to inform that its IT lab is also uploaded with all the software which support the training for MCA, M.Sc(IT), M.Sc computer science and University training is also given for them by experienced faculties.

• Management Department
The Management here works to their core to produce skilled and knowledgeable candidates to the entertained world.
The world is changing and it’s up to us to play an active role in it. If we passively live our lives, the universe will act accordingly. Every year MFT reveals more than thousands of management students who are getting recruited in optimized industries and companies where they asked to lay their platforms of talents individually in a successful manner.

• Fashion Department
MFT here provides the students a vast infrastructure for the Fashion Department. The seating arrangements of the students are made such a way in order to comfort the students for their sketching, making patterns and other works. The department is enriched by providing separates lab facilities for fashion Designing, pattern making and Grading, Garment Construction and Textiles departments. The resource centre has comprehensively listed and neatly displayed samples of fabrics, garments and accessories. Machines used here are fully modernized based on the present technology and trend. The creative skills of the students here are being molded according to the developing modern trend of the world.

• Library
The library has a collection of books according to the requirement of the students. The books available were very much helpful for the students for their project works, seminars, and conferences. The specimens were also kept collected respective to the fields of interest and need. The students can also asked use the library of the University of Madras for their reference. They provide more than thousands of knowledge loaded books for the students at the time of need. The Library also subscribes to latest national and international journals and magazines catering to all departments and has valuable audio visual collections of compact discs and phptographs.

• Industry Interaction
MFT is committed to develop a high level of industrial knowledge to the student by curriculum designing, training, placement, research, development and project work. A healthy exchange of faculty and professionals in industries are being arranged to utilize the expertise in the respective field. Internships and industrial visits are arranged in all branches of the industry across the country. Students are encouraged to attend exhibitions, industrial fairs and training related to students of study and interact with company representatives present there. Thus enabling to bridge the gap between the student’s scholastic knowledge and industrial practicalities.

• Internship
We provide personal training for the students in their corresponding fields through internship training. The students thus, realize the value of their fields, and endure their best co- operation and also learn how to face the competitive world.

The MFT students don’t have to wait until after graduation to start seeing the world. We often take students the study tours to various places. The visits during these tours enable students to gain insight into the careers that MFT graduates can select and more fully understand their participation in the entertainment industries.
